This month, I will be participating yet again in a round of Reverb Broads, a blogging project that my good friend Kassie and I started a year ago. If you’re a blogger (or are thinking of becoming one), please join us! Otherwise, get ready to enjoy some random posts!
This prompt is brought to you by Laurie - What makes you laugh?
Sean will tell anyone who listen that when it comes to funny movies, I am dead inside. I never laugh at obviously funny parts, I seldom even smile or look amused. I can’t help it – I just don’t have your average sense of humor. I tend to be more amused by a funny book than a “funny” movie. Except for one.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, we introduced Aedan to the movie Elf. If you haven’t seen it, you should stop reading right now, go watch it, and then come back. There – done now?
Sean spent most of the movie watching me instead of the screen because I was laughing so hard. I can’t help it – there’s something about that movie that just cracks me up. Maybe it’s anticipating the humorous lines (“Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?”) or the physical comedy of seeing a giant like Will Ferrell as an elf, but I find it to be absolutely hysterical. And because he saw me laughing, Aedan now contends that this must be one of the funniest movies he’s ever seen, either.
What else makes me laugh? Dark humor, unexpected cursing, my younger sister, my son’s quips, and a good Christopher Moore book, among other things.
