Kristendom is the online world and persona of Kristen Abell (me, in case you hadn’t guessed). I’ve been blogging personally since 2006, about my life, my passions, my relationships, being a mother, feminism, reading, pretty much whatever enters this vastly interesting head of mine.
In 2010, I started my blog on technology and student affairs – Kristendom Talks Tech. This is my attempt to enter the blogosphere in a more professional manner – writing about things I love and things I encounter in my work.
Professionally, I’m a web coordinator at the University of Missouri-Kansas City working primarily with our Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, where I have worked since 2007 (first as the Assistant Director of the Women’s Center, then as the Associate Director and Director for Residential Life). I have worked in student affairs full-time since 2001, where I started my career at the University of Kansas. I completed both my bachelor’s in psychology, women’s studies and English and my master’s in social welfare at the University of Kansas. During my time in student affairs, I’ve developed a deep and unrelenting passion for technology, much to the appreciation (and sometimes chagrin) of my colleagues and higher-ups.
In addition to my day job, I am also the loving partner of a housing officer and student affairs junkie (at a different university, of course – one university is not big enough for the both of us). And we are both parents of one wild, rambunctious, wickedly smart and entirely too well-spoken seven-year-old. He makes frequent appearances in my personal blog, in case you hadn’t noticed.
So that, my friends, is Kristendom in a nutshell.
